A chemical spill at a Michigan plant triggered a hazardous materials response and hospitalized over a dozen individuals, according to reports. Emergency crews in Holland, Michigan, were dispatched to LG Energy Solutions Inc. after a mass casualty incident involving severe breathing difficulties.
Rawsalerts reported that hazmat teams arrived on site following the spill, with 4–6 people experiencing critical symptoms, though the exact number remains unclear. Additional patients may require evaluation as the situation unfolds. The cause and full extent of the incident are still under investigation.
The Holland Fire Department responded to the hazardous materials emergency shortly after completing a water rescue near Lake Michigan. At 3:26 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6, crews confirmed a chemical spill at the facility located at 875 E 48th Street in Holland. Emergency protocols were activated, with responders securing the site and ensuring the safety of employees and nearby areas.
Fifteen individuals were transported to local hospitals for evaluation and treatment, per a fire department release. No life-threatening injuries have been reported so far. The chemical was contained on-site, with specialized teams conducting cleanup operations. Officials stated there is no public threat beyond the immediate vicinity.
LG Energy Solutions is cooperating with emergency services and environmental safety officials as the incident remains under review. This follows a separate tragedy in late July, when a worker died at the same facility after being trapped in a machine.
