Turning Point Action Endorses Rep. Byron Donalds in Florida Gubernatorial Race

Turning Point Action, the political advocacy arm of Turning Point USA, has endorsed U.S. Representative Byron Donalds (R-FL) for the Florida governor’s office.

The endorsement provides Donalds with a significant boost as he competes in the Republican primary. Donalds already holds President Trump’s endorsement.

“I’m honored to announce I’ve earned the endorsement of Turning Point Action,” Donalds stated.

“Charlie Kirk’s legacy lives on through this incredible organization, and I’m grateful to have their support in my campaign for Governor of Florida. Together, we will take the Sunshine State to the NEXT LEVEL,” he added.

Donalds declared his candidacy in February 2025 to replace term-limited Republican Governor Ron DeSantis.

Kirk endorsed Donalds shortly after, stating: “We’re behind you 100%,” during a podcast interview with the lawmaker.

Donalds has outraised other declared Republican candidates by a wide margin, raising more than $40 million and demonstrating his early dominance in fundraising.

Recent polling indicates that Donalds leads all tested ballot matchups among likely Republican primary voters, drawing approximately 47% support compared to just 5% for Azoria CEO James Fishback and 4% for former Florida House Speaker Paul Renner.

The GOP primary also gained a new candidate this week as Florida Lieutenant Governor Jay Collins announced his candidacy. Collins stated: “I’m running for Governor because leadership is forged under pressure, not in soundbites. I served over 23 years in the United States military, mainly as a Green Beret, where accountability is real, decisions have consequences, and service comes before self.”

“That experience shaped how I lead and why I believe public office is a public trust,” Collins added.

Turning Point Action’s endorsement brings substantial grassroots support and field-organizing resources to the race. The organization has been instrumental in mobilizing conservative voters, particularly younger Republicans, and has played an active role in primary contests nationwide.

The endorsement aligns with Donalds’ focus on issues such as school choice, parental rights and economic conservatism—priorities long championed by both Trump and Kirk.

The Republican primary is scheduled for August 18, 2026, with the general election occurring on November 3, 2026.
